WikiNotes is searching for developers
Due to writing my diploma thesis and working, I am not able to spend as much time and effort on WikiNotes as I want and as it should get. So I'm searching for developers that can lend me a helping hand (or even both) and push WikiNotes further. I just don't want the program to just lie here and nothing getting done.
WikiNotes is a free application for OS X 10.4 (Tiger) that helps you to organize your brain and be productive without a hassle. Just start writing and then whenever you feel the need to break off into a new thought, create a link with the corresponding CamelCase word. Then, just like WikiWikiWeb, you get a new document with a single click.
If you just can't wait, download it now, or get the source. Or read on...
Features
- Take notes, organize your thoughts, and write notes for your iPod. WikiNotes leverages Apple's CoreData technology so that your documents don't waste any time getting loaded or saved. Type in CamelCase words to get links in a hurry. There's even an auto-completion for existing page names too.
-
Wanna know which pages link to other pages? Nothing as easy as that, just look in the sidebar.
Everything is there, just keep your eyes on the right side. Right-click on a number
(greater than 0) in the inor out column. A context-menu will pop up, and right
there you get the pages going in, or out.
- Search through your whole wiki. Just type in what you are looking for and find all occurrences in all of your pages in an instant with the contextual search feature. There's no easier way to find what you're looking for.
-
Search your Documents with Spotlight. Every word in your wiki is indexed by Spotlight so that your documents are just
one quick search away, even when you're not working in WikiNotes.
- So you've got a document and want to share it with others in a platform neutral manner? Just export it as HTML and share it with friends.
- Want to take your notes with you? No problem. Connect your iPod and do a quick sync. Just one click and your Wiki is ready to go. Just look under your Notes menu, and you'll find everything all linked up and split into files that your iPod understands. Never leave home without them.
- Emphasize something by formatting the font accordingly and even add colors if you like. You can also drag and drop images or PDF files onto your pages.
Interface
Everyone familiar with web browsing and text-editing will be familiar with the interface of WikiNotes. You've got back and forward
buttons like your favorite browser. The text-view always displays the current page, and on the right-hand-side you can see all your pages with the corresponding links coming in and going out.
You can switch your view in the sidebar to see the history of your navigation.
If you want to create a new page, just type its name in another page. Just use the link button in the toolbar to make non-CamelCase words and phrases links.
And what good would all of your info be without the ability to search it? Just type the string you are searching for in the search-field in the toolbar, and the results will appear right away. Showing every page where the string occurs, sorted by the number of occurrences.
Each occurrence will be highlighted.
And if you want to change the style of your text, fire up the format-menu and go right ahead. Include images or PDF files by just dragging and dropping them where you want. You can delete pages or set your homepage with the action menu in the sidebar.
